The Parenthesis concept was started by three businessmen with a burden for the Millennial generation in the New Testament assembly:
- Dr. Jeff Johnson (a retired North Carolina dentist, used of the Lord in starting Reidsville Bible Chapel and in building the Word of God into the lives of young people through a weekly home Bible study)
- Sid Bhatt (known for his guidance and support in North American assembly works, including the original RiseUp Conference, Brandywine Young Adult gatherings, and the Myrtle Beach Family Conferences)
- James Gibbons (who runs an advertising agency along with his wife, Anne, leads various home studies, and has helped to promote several assembly works and conferences including Greenwood Hills Bible Conference, Pittsboro Christian Village, and the Peck House Study).
To bring Parenthesis to fruition, evangelist and educator, Michael Donahue and bible teacher and curriculum designer, David Nicholson were asked to join the group. Their contributions have been immeasurable.
The vision is that Parenthesis will be a series of conferences and conversations for young adults, focusing on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the mastery of the Bible as our God-given resource, Biblical truths regarding the local church and the role of individuals within it…all focusing on a heart knowledge and relationship with the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Please pray with us, that the Lord will bless this conference, and that He will use this occasion to empower a new generation of Christians to take up the work He has for us—our personal walks, our homes, our assemblies, our workplaces, and our testimonies to the world.
WE BELIEVE IN…
The absolute and verbal inspiration of the Bible and its inerrancy as God’s Holy Word.
The Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit; three persons in one essence in the unity of the Godhead.
The creation of man by the direct act of God, and his subsequent fall as revealed in the Genesis account.
The Deity, Incarnation, Virgin Birth and sinless humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ; His substitutionary death on the cross for the atonement of man’s sin; His bodily resurrection from the tomb; His ascension into Heaven to sit at the Father’s right hand; the imminent rapture of the church, and the personal, visible and pre-millennial return of Christ in power and great glory.
The power of Christ to save all who trust Him eternally from the penalty of sin through faith in His shed blood, and the gift of eternal life by the grace of God.
The new birth of all who believe on Him through the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit.
The sanctification of the believer by the Holy Spirit through His Word.
The final judgment of the wicked, and Satan’s doom with the wicked in the lake of fire.
The eternal happiness of the righteous in the presence of the Lord, and the ushering in of eternal righteousness in the new Heaven and the new Earth.
